TRADITION CONTINUES
The Mariani Open is an annual golfing event that pits the Blue Team, captained by event creator Brett Mariani, against his brother, Glen Mariani, and the Red Team. We look forward to the event continuing to grow over the years and everyone enjoying the festivities that surround it annually!
THE FORMAT
The event welcomes golfers of all abilities and attempts to create fair match-ups in a 2 vs. 2 scramble match play format over 36 holes and two days. The first group of matches takes place on Saturday at one course, and the captains then select new pairings for Sunday matches at a different area course. In between, Bette, Steve, and Kimberly Mariani host all participants and families for a halfway celebration event with food and drinks.

THE SPOILS
The teams compete for the coveted Mariani Open Cup which changes hands among the members of the victorious team for the calendar year until the next year's event.

THE RULES
Two players from the Red Team and two players from the Blue Team will play 18 holes against each other to determine a winner based on the number of holes won by each team. To determine a Winner for a hole, whichever team has the lowest score on a hole wins the hole. A Tie results in neither team winning the hole. Each Team plays a scramble between the two players until they hole out.
A scramble is when each player plays a tee shot, then the best shot is chosen and each player plays from this location, this continues until the ball is in the hole. Once a team has won a differential of more holes than the other team compared to holes left to play, the match is over, resulting in a point for the winning team. If teams win the same number of holes the match is All-Square, resulting in a half point for each team.

Tournament-specific rules: No Mulligans. Shots must be taken within a club length of the original resting location of the ball, but the lie may not be improved. Putts must be taken from the exact same spot. The Tees played from will be determined specific to each course played. Starting in 2014, the captains cannot select any of the same pairings on both days of the tournament.
All other standard Rules of Golf Apply except if specifically refuted above.
